These 12 Action Points are the foundation of creating a group or branch experience for our friends where they can feel the Spirit and grow in the Gospel.
1. Identify Latino and Non-English-Speaking Communities
Action: Conduct surveys or demographic mapping to locate where these communities live within the stake boundaries.
Outcome: A detailed map showing where to focus outreach and unit creation.
2. Propose the Creation of Dependent Groups or Branches
Action: Recommend establishing smaller, more accessible units (dependent groups or branches) near Latino communities rather than concentration in a more distant central unit.
3. Organize EnglishConnect Classes
Action: Expand EnglishConnect classes to help bridge language gaps and support self- reliance with a schedule accommodating Latino members and friends.
Outcome: Regular EnglishConnect classes will serve as both a missionary tool and a resource for integrating non-English speakers into the Church community.
4. Leadership Development and Training
Action: Propose a plan to help Latino members develop leadership skills. If specialized training is needed, request assistance from Elder and Sister Brown.
Outcome: A well-trained pool of leaders ready to serve in local and stake leadership roles.
5. Regular Visits to Latino and Non-English-Speaking Groups
Action: Stake Leaders, Area 70s, and Area Presidency members will plan regular leadership visits to these groups to build relationships, understand their needs, and assess growth opportunities.
Outcome: Strengthened relationships and more effective support for these communities.
6. Recommend Latino/Non-English-Speaking Leaders for Stake Positions
Action: Identify and recommend qualified Latino members for stake leadership positions, using interpreters if necessary to ensure communication.
Outcome: Increased representation of Latino leaders fostering inclusion and diversity.
7. Improve Translation Services
Action: Improve translation and interpretation in stake meetings and provide more translated materials.
Outcome: Better participation and understanding for non-English speakers.
8. Family History Initiatives
Action: Organize family history workshops tailored for Latino members.
Outcome: Increased engagement in family history work and temple ordinances.
9. Cultural Celebrations
Action: Plan events that celebrate the diverse cultures within the stake.
Outcome: Foster unity and understanding among all members and friends.
10. Ministering Focus
Action: Develop specific training for ministering brothers and sisters on effectively serving Latino families.
Outcome: More effective ministering and stronger relationships within the ward family.
11. Youth Programs
Actions:
Create mentorship programs pairing Latino youth with their English-speaking peers.
Integrate youth into geographical units to develop spiritually and socially.
Encourage youth to receive their Patriarchal Blessing.
Prepare youth to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood, temple ordinances, and missionary service.
Provide financial support to ensure no youth is excluded from serving a mission.
Outcomes: Better integration, more participation and preparation of youth for leadership and continued Church activity.
12. Temple Preparation
Action: Organize temple preparation classes in Spanish and other relevant languages.
Outcome: Increased temple attendance and recommend holders among Latino members.
